LRA BOARD SUSPENDS COMMISSIONER GENERAL

The Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) Board of Directors has suspended the newly appointed Commissioner General (CG) Mr. Thabo Khasipe with effect from Monday (06 January, 2017).

According to a statement issued by the Authority on Wednesday, the Board’s decision came as a result of an impending investigation into alleged contravention of Mr. Khasipe's contractual obligations.

The Authority further said in the interim, the Board has appointed Mrs. Idia Penane to act in the Office of the Commissioner General until further notice.

The LRA Board has therefore requested the staff and the taxpayers alike to continue to work together in ensuring that Lesotho is able to look after its citizens especially the aged and other vulnerable groups who depend entirely on the taxes collected.

More information showed that though Mr. Khasipe has been suspended, he is still entitled to receive his full benefits.

Mr. Khasipe was appointed into the Office of the LRA Commissioner General on December 04 last year. He replaced Mr. Thabo Letjama who resigned in November 2015.
